Complete coin set with motifs from the French South Seas The unique nature of New Caledonia includes not only endemic species, but entire families and genera that are found only there. One of the endemic animals of the French overseas territory in the South Pacific, is the kagu. Because of its feathers and meat, the flightless bird was very important to the indigenous people, the Kanaks. It is depicted on three of the reverses of this complete coin set of the CFP Franc. The others show a pirogue (dugout canoe type), three zebus and a traditional hut of the Kanaks.
