DESCRIPTION
Front: A.B. “Banjo” Paterson (1864-1941), a folk poet. The running horses in the background were inspired by the imagery and feelings conjured up by the Banjo’s poem, “The Man from Snowy River.” Back: Dame Mary Gilmore (1865-1962), a writer. During World War II she captured the hearts of Australians with a stirring call to patriotism in her poems, “No Foe Shall Gather Our Harvest” and “Singapore.”
