DESCRIPTION
Front: King Bhumibol at right, wearing a military uniform. Back: King Mongkut (Rama IV) seated at table. King Mongkut was the founder of basic science in Thailand. He introduced standard time in Thailand in 1852. He also accurately predicted the full solar eclipse, visible in Thailand on August 18, 1868–this is why a globe and a telescope are depicted at left.
