Eternal flower, turtle ship and a national hero This complete coin set of the Won focuses on the history and nature of South Korea. The obverses depict South Korea’s “eternal flower” Mugunghwa (national flower), a turtle ship – armored Korean warship –, the Dabotap pagoda at the Buddhist temple of Bulguksa in Gyeongju, a rice plant, admiral and national hero Yi Sun-sin (1545–1598), and a red-crowned crane. Incheon’s city bird is said to symbolize “South Korea’s leap in the international community”. The Dabotap pagoda is a national treasure of the country. All reverses show the respective denomination.
