A clear window depicts Omar Mukhtar (1862-1931) also known as “The Lion of the Desert.” Omar is considered the national hero of Libya and a symbol of resistance in the Arab and Islamic worlds. Back: Ruins of the Temple of Zeus in Cyrene. Originally built in ca. 6th century BC, the temple is larger than the Parthenon in Athens.
